UPDATE!!!

Last night went fishing again after having a rest for almost a month. Not very nice tide but luckily still able to land a 1.7kg grouper. Considered very lucky as the tide was not really moving at all.

Early Morning Fishing

Today I went fishing as early as 2.30 am. I went 3 different spots to fish. First I went to the market jetty. After half an hour fishing there, it started to rain.

At 3.30 am I switched my spot to the SCOW jetty as the rain still haven't stop. There I got a few pulls but only able to land 2 small groupers weighting 250g each. I got really unfortunate there as my line was broken due to the heavy pull of a fish although I am using Berkley 80 lbs line.

At 6.00 am I switched my spot to the area behind Community Hall. I got lucky there as I was successfully landed a 1.1kg red snapper after I casted my line in 2 or 3 minutes. That's my catches today after 4 hours of fishing.

After Rain

Went fishing last night. Started around 7 pm. Around 7.30 pm a heavy pull of my line but when i tighten my line, it suddenly went silent. Luck was not on my side, my line broken because of the corals and rocks under the water.

Around 10.30 pm it started to rain heavily. We have to wait until the rain stops at 11.00pm. All of us started to cast our line. My father just have to wait around 10 minutes then his line started to pull and after a few fight, a 2.4kg grouper was successfully landed. Luckily the line did not broke although the line got major injuries due to scratches by rocks and coral. What a nice sample.

Last night went fishing again and landed 2 groupers with 1.3kg n 700g in weight. These are the pics of my catches.

UPDATE!!!

On the 31/7/2010 night, I went fishing with my dad at the Sandakan Jetty and manage to land a 500g grouper.

Then, a week later on the 14/8/2010 I went again to the same place at 3.30 am and needed to wait until 6.00 am to land a 1.1kg red snapper.

And last night my father and I went again to the Sandakan jetty. The weather and the tide was very nice. We arrive there at 7.00 pm. Ah Wah, our friend was already there when we arrived there.
It was quite lucky as I managed to land a 1.7kg after only 30 minutes I started fishing.
Not long after that was my dad's turn to land a 1.6kg red snapper and following by a 1.1kg grouper. Ah Wah was the last to land a 600g red snapper before we went home.
It was quite a joyous night for everyone of us.

29/4/10 UPDATE!!!

Went fishing last night with my father and Ah Wah. My father was the 1st one to land a 1kg sembilang not long after we arrive Scow. Nearly 1am then it was Ah Wah's turn to land a small 400g red snapper. He gave it to me. Thanx. A few minutes later there comes my turn to land a 800g grouper. Ah Wah was the last guy to roundup our trip with a 2kg++ grouper. It was a wonderful night for all of us indeed as no one was going home empty handed.

Groupers again!

Last night went went to Scow again. Together with me were my father, ah wah, watermelon man, chu and his cousin. Chu's cousin was the first to land a 1kg+ grouper. An hour later, there comes my father in action to land his 2.9kg grouper. Not long after that, there comes my luck with my 1.7kg grouper. My father and I went home at 12.00 am while the others were still hunting there.

Fishing again!!

After having more than 2 months rest from fishing, I started again on last Thursday and saturday. Luck was on my side as both trip was fruitful. Not big but enough for a meal. My friends did land range from 1.5kgs - 4.5kgs groupers on both night but sorry, forgot to take their pictures. These are my catches.

New Year Blessing

On the night of last Friday my dad landed a 1.2kg red snapper around 11.30pm. At last my dad has his own fish to keep for Chinese New Year. Chinese believe it will bring good luck to keep it through the whole Chinese New Year period. Wishing everyone of you Happy Chinese New Year & GONG XI FA CAI.

First RED of 2010

This 1.2kg red snapper is just a great present for this coming Chinese New Year. So far this year, this is my best catch. In fact this is my biggest catch this year. Beside the red, I also landed a small 400g grouper.

Last night once again we went fishing but this time we switched location to 'tembok' or 'highway'. I didn't have any luck, only a few nibbles. But my dad was the only 1 in action last night. At 10.30 pm, out of silence suddenly my dad started pulling his line but with the help of watermelon man at last we heard a big splash before landind the 2.7kg tiger grouper.

END OF FASTING MONTHS!!!

After 9 months without any catch, at last tonight my dad landed a 1.35kg red snapper. His last catch was on 3/1/09 which was a 5kg grouper. His last red snapper caught was on 2/10/08. Hope that not 1 year 1 red snapper. :) .... I'm sure my dad is very happy tonight.

Early Morning Hunting

Fishing early in the morning is really refreshing. Started casting and popping at around 3.00 am this morning but there was no sign of fish around. So around 4.30 am I casted my 10 feet rod and started bottom. Ah Wah together with me used hand line as usual. Around 5.30 am it was him who successfully landed a 1.8kg grouper. However, he gave it to me later. hahahahah.... :)

At 6.00 am it was my turn to land a fish. Dunno what its name is? Anyone knows? Quite happy though as I was using my new surecatch bait runner reel for the 1st time and manage to land something. Hopefully my catch using this reel will get better.

Grouper Again!

Started fishing at 8.00 pm tonight together with my father, Ah Wah and Chu. My father and I went home earlier at 10.30 pm. Although just fished for 2 1/2 hours, I successfully landed a small 800g grouper. Still in hunt for a red snapper. It had been such a long time since I caught my last red snapper. Hopefully manage to land 1 in my next outing.

Went fishing at the Sandakan Market jetty again last night with my father and Ah Wah. Didn't have any good catches, only 3 consolation fish. 1 nangking fish and 2 eels. (are their names correct?) 1 small eel weight aroung 1kg was released back to its own nature. According to a cook, the eel taste delicious so I brought home the big 1 to have a try. However it looks really disgusting to me. hahahaha.... bty it's my longgest and heaviest catch since I started fishing. hahahaha......

Here Comes At Last

It has been quite a few months back since i got my last catch. Infact I rarely goes fishing now a days since I have been busy with my table tennis schedule. However, I made myself available after a few invitations from my buddies to go fishing 2 days ago. This was the 3rd outing since the mid-term school holidays. I successfully landed a 1.1 kg grouper. In fact, it is my biggest catch of the year.

After exactly 1 month without any catch, at last tonight I manage to land a 800g red snapper. It has been a busy month for me and I hardly can go fishing. I'm really satisfied with this not so big snapper.

Some people would be happy if they catch an extra large fish or may be a lot of catches to satisfied them. But for me, if I'm able to catch 1 of this on every outing, then it would be more than happy for me. If bigger or more, then I would say it is a 'BONUS'. By the way, who doesn't like bonus. hahahaha.....

Grouper for Grouper

My dad bought a grouper weighed 5.5kg 2 days ago. Will this grouper bring any luck? Last time when he bought a 4kg grouper, he managed to land a 5kg grouper. May be a 6kg grouper this time? However, tonight did go for fishing but 0 catches. Need few more days for his luck to come, maybe.
